Three Months Later

I took a kind of mental break. Mental, physical and psychological, to be honest.

In a world like our current one, where every day’s news cycle reads like an ongoing assault with a blunt object, it’s necessary, I think, to step away, if you can; to change the view, so to speak. And so, we did. We moved.

Across town. Back to the first building we lived in when we came to Sarasota. We left it five years ago because of new ownership that didn’t seem invested, and also a need for a little more space. But we always loved the view from the first address and it was the only residential building in downtown Sarasota with gas, so there was that.

Well, five years later, our second building got new owners who again, didn’t seem invested and everything started going downhill, so we made a decision to move on...or back, as the case may be, and as fate would have it, all of the cards fell into place.

Our original building had gotten new owners again in the interim and these owners have done an amazing job. So, three months later, we’re home again, to the same original floor plan but with much higher ceilings, to the same spectacular view, and now, once again, the Muse is cooking with gas!

He’s also designed a beautiful space filled with art and memories and the very eclectic souvenirs of lives well-lived – lives made richer by everyone we’ve known, lives made richer by everywhere we’ve been. It feels totally new but totally ours. And it’s a place where friends and family are always welcome and diversity, equity and inclusion are a given.

Because without them, well, it wouldn’t be home.
