The destruction is devastating. The clean up is ongoing.
Nobody likes a hurricane. Nobody wants a hurricane. They’re loud, destructive, dangerous, unpredictable, unmanageable, life threatening and sometimes deadly. They can destroy homes, livelihoods, memories of what once was.
It’s the noise, the constant noise that doesn’t let up and doesn’t make sense. It’s the wind that blows continually without content or purpose, only randomly targeting victims, seemingly at a whim.
When you’re fortunate enough to have ample warning, pay attention and guard against the worst possible outcome. We don’t always get to choose.
So, why would anyone vote for a loud, out of control bag of wind that changes direction and loyalties on a whim, breaks laws indiscriminately and has no understanding of empathy or compassion? And why is it even an option?
Anyone who says they’re not afraid at the time of a hurricane
is either a fool or a liar, or a little bit of both.
