Rotate Your Tires

Writer's picture: WILLIAM A SLOAN WILLIAM A SLOAN

It’s like your body is a car.

And you bought that car. You didn’t lease. And there’s no trade in option. This is your car. For the rest of your life.

Some people are great about taking care of their cars. They do the regular check ups. They fix whatever they’re told to fix. They keep it cleaned and polished. They maintain. And they roll through the decades, always getting pretty good mileage and not experiencing many surprise glitches or sounds.

Others treat their cars like a necessary evil that only exists to get them from here to there, and a back up trash can that never gets emptied out. Their ride gets a little less smooth every year, a little less comfortable, and they hear more and more surprise sounds – clicks and knocks and wheezes – but they continue to ignore the changes and sounds, rather than take a good look now and then and maybe take out the trash or consult an expert on vehicle care.

My point I suppose is this. No matter how long you’ve been driving, you never know how far you’re gonna go. So, start taking care of your vehicle, if you haven’t already, and don’t stop. Slowing your roll should only be an option you choose, not a mandatory condition because your transmission is shot.
