You said what to me?

On January 8th, 2013, I wrote my first blog. It was the beginning of an adventure I didn’t know I needed. It became an opportunity for connecting to people in an era where opportunities for connection become harder and harder to find. And now, thirteen years later, on August 7th, 2026, I’m sharing with you my 500th Blog. I don’t know what that means exactly, if anything, but it’s a landmark of sorts. An acknowledgment of an achievement. And it doesn’t need a fake gold plated statue to temporarily validate its existence. It exists on its own and if it has had any impact or value or worth, well, that’s up to anyone who has taken the time to read one, or hopefully more, and maybe chuckled or smirked or rolled their eyes.
But they’ve meant a lot to me and are the best self-therapy I can recommend. And the fact that so many of you have stayed the course, or jumped on and off and back on again as the blog train has run through your digital universe...well, that means the world.
Now, since I have a fondness for round numbers and checking off self-imposed goals, I’ve decided to take a break from my blog world for a while, to focus on my painting again and a few other creative endeavors. “Wisdom is knowing when to leave” so says one of my favorite eastern proverbs. And “Always leave them wanting more” is another great one from PT Barnum. And that’s me in a nutshell – a little Zen, a little Razzmatazz!
So, I’ll be gone for a bit, but I’ll be back now and then...when I can’t keep my mouth shut...which is often.
In the meantime, thanks for playing, I miss you already, and I never say good bye – it’s always big hugs til next time.
“You were an unforgettable Peter Pan. You must play it again soon.”
– Addison DeWitt, All About Eve

500?!? Wow.
And… Thank you!
Very few emails I’m so happy to see pop in like I do a new Willian A Sloan blog entry! They were all a delight and some were exceptionally moving, hilarious, or seemed like ESP right out of my own mind. You are an inspiration Bill.
xx’s and oo’s from an OG fan!
I have enjoyed your blog for years, one of the things I like about it, besides your comments and insights, is that it was never very regular so I never expected it. When is came I enjoyed it. I will still not be expecting it but hope it comes every once in a awhile when you have an inspiration. Thank you Jim
Although I will miss your wit with words - love that you are going back to your other creative talent
