and stop spinning.
Sometimes, when life feels out of balance and you’re pretty much overwhelmed or under-focused, it can help to basically put your priorities, your fears, your hopes, your everything into a metaphorical Cuisinart set on high...and when the spinning stops you’re left with a clarified texture and flavors you’d possibly taken for granted. And what becomes crystal clear immediately is that there are only two ingredients that actually matter. Ever. The first is family. The second is friends.
And when you’re very, very fortunate, your family are your friends and your friends are your family and they respond in kind. What’s better than a knowing look, a cashmere voice, a thoughtful touch, an all encompassing hug? What’s better? Literally nothing.
Our friends, our tribe, are wonderfully diverse in every possible way and we have grown through them and with them. Never dull, always inspiring, they’re our extended family of mutual choice.
Our birth families are remarkable in every way – smart, brave, thoughtful, beautiful...and funny! Do I exaggerate? No. Do I brag? Pretty much non-stop. The best gift the Muse ever gave me was his family and I believe he would say the same in return.
Yes, we are very, very fortunate. Reminders are a good thing, don’t you think?
“Family is not an important thing. It’s everything.”
