It's Just a Show

but is it?

It’s a Yes in a year of Nos, a hopeful smile in a year of dismal frowns. It’s a beautifully acted, emotionally naked, sexy love story in which boy-meets-boy and stuff happens, lots of stuff, the kind of stuff that has traditionally been represented by boy-meets-girl couples. And who’d have ever thought, in this year of prejudice and bigotry inspired by famously immoral officials, that this show would not only get produced, but become the most successful show of the year, with the most watched episode of any television show ever? It’s called Heated Rivalry. And the audience isn’t just gay. Because the show isn’t just gay.

It’s a show about love and compassion and understanding and personal bravery and finding the whatever-it-takes to move forward in life, when you don’t fit the text book definition. And yes, the sex is something, Really something, in fact. But it’ s the care and concern that you stay for.

And I’m here to tell you that holding hands on the beach isn’t a small thing. And touching feet to reassure each other that you’re there isn’t something to take for granted. 

This isn’t just a show. It’s more than that.
