with meaning.

Both in early middle age, she, walking ahead with a dog on a leash, a happy dog on a leash, and he, a few steps back, continuing a conversation that maybe wasn’t resolved, but his step says he’s interested and her hesitation says she’s open and suddenly they stop and she turns and walks back to him and kisses him, a movie kiss, a kiss that says I-know-and-whatever-and-I’m-sorry-and-whatever-and-you’re-my-everything-and-I-love you-and-you-know-that, And his response in movement says yes-and-thank-you-and-whatever-and-sometimes-it-comes-out-sideways-but you’re-my-everything-and-you-know-that.

And then, they both bow down and kiss the dog, the happy dog, and we know now why he’s so happy.
Love isn’t always easy. But it is a fact. And facts are hard to come by.
