Many of my favorite people these days are half my age.
Or there abouts. They’re at that point where they’ve learned to swim, have taken the water wings off and are ready to dive into the deep end of the pool. No responsibilities to speak of, for the most part, too many possibilities to choose from, and all the time in the world to decide what’s next. It’s invigorating...or overwhelming...or both at the same time.
A few of my young friends are killing it, on their very different journeys. They’re putting in the time and taking some pretty big leaps. They’re trying on new ideas and finding out that some aren’t as good a fit as they originally assumed, but others.....others are surprisingly right.
It’s the fluidity that’s exciting, I think, and fun to watch – the fluidity, the gamesmanship, the whack-a-mole resilience. May they hold onto those characteristics forever, because life is what you make it, over and over and over again.
Focus on the journey, not the destination.
Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it.
